My first angel investment
My first angel investment
I used to think angel investing was like playing roulette. I never thought I'd gamble my money on a startup.
But today I took a leap of faith in a company I believe in.
I've been using Roam Research for more than a year now, and it has given me superpower-like abilities for working smarter and being a better leader.
It's a note-taking app, but much different from others like Evernote because it has bidirectional linking. As you input your thoughts, new connections form over time, and your ideas build upon each other. A graph of your knowledge emerges.
Think of Roam as "Excel for Thought," a kind of programming language for your mind. Your second brain.
I spend much of my day in the app for:
- Logging meeting notes at work.
- Tracking my son's precious moments as he grows up.
- Journaling.
- Managing my knowledge with the Zettelkasten method.
- Drafting my weekly newsletter.
I'm sharing this with you because I want you to experience the same creative benefits that I have. If you’d like to try Roam for yourself, here are some ways to get started:
- Access the Work Smart, Lead Better newsletter archive in Roam format.
- Read "The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant" which is a brilliant, concise book on wealth and happiness in Roam format. (I expect more books will be published in Roam format in the future!)
- View the official Roam whitepaper.
Watch a Roam video on YouTube. There are lots of great demos.

The Internet changed the world. So did social media. And so is blockchain. Angel investing might be a gamble, but I invested in Roam Research because I have had this gut feeling the company will change the way we share knowledge around the globe. Imagine what the web could be like with bidirectional linking instead of the one-way linking we have now.
