Mental Models

Mental models are frameworks for thinking and understanding tendencies. They're useful because they help us make better decisions.

Mental Models are like camera lenses

Mental models are like camera lenses that improve how we see the world. For example, one lens might enable you to zoom in on the details while another lens captures the bigger picture.

The more "camera lenses" you have in your bag and know how to use, the more ways you can view things, the more perspective you have, the deeper your thinking, the better your decision making.

Here are my favorite mental models:

Reciprocity‍ With every action follows a reaction. A positive gesture in a transaction will prompt a positive gesture in return, even if doesn’t happen immediately. If I offer a discount to a client, they will be inclined to give something back, such as time spent writing a review about my coaching services.
